Bible Study
The Word works! The Bible tells us that the Holy Spirit works through the Word and the Sacraments to create and strengthen saving faith. This is why we worship. This is why we spend time in Bible study, too. Here are some of the opportunities we offer at Bethlehem.
"As the rain and the snow
come down from heaven,
and do not return to it
without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,
so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,
so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it."
Isaiah 55:10-11
Sunday Morning Bible Study
The easiest way to get involved in Bible study at Bethlehem happens on Sunday mornings. Between Labor Day and Memorial Day we offer Bible studies on a variety of topics from 9:25-10:15am.
Here's what we'll be covering in 2025-26.
How the Bible Was Made
September 2025
How reliable is the Bible? Has anything or anyone ever caused you to doubt the truthfulness of God’s Word? This study will explain God’s role in inspiring and preserving the text of the Bible.
Personal Devotions
September - October 2025
It’s a healthy spiritual habit to study God’s Word at home, but it’s not an easy habit to build. This study will provide practical tips on how to build personal devotional habits to grow in God’s Word every day.
Elijah
October - November 2025
The prophet Elijah is one of the most prominent prophets in the Bible. This study takes a look at his life and ministry.
1 Thessalonians
December 2025
Why isn’t living as a Christian easier? If the God of the Bible is the real God, shouldn’t that mean smooth sailing through this life? The reality of our lives would often say otherwise. This is nothing new. Our study of 1 Thessalonians will explore God’s answers to these troubling questions.
Parables of Jesus
January 2026
“Parables are an earthly story with a heavenly meaning.” Have you heard that definition before? Jesus commonly used parables to teach truths about the kingdom of God. These stories serve to clarify and to confuse. Through parables, Jesus teaches sinners to see the world through God’s eyes.
Let's Go!
February - March 2026
"Let's Go!" will encourage us to work on sharing the Good News of Jesus with the people in our lives.
Esther
April - May 2025
Why am I here? Esther was a Jewish exile who became the queen of Persia who God used to preserve his people from extermination. Her story helps us to think about why God orders our lives they way he does and what our purpose in life is.
Bible Basics
Bible Basics is a course that covers all the basic teachings of the Bible in 13 lessons. It's open to everyone, and it's especially for those who are considering whether Bethlehem is the right church for them. Don't feel like if you show up once you're committing to coming for the whole thing. Come check it out for 3 weeks and see if it's right for you!
Interested? Reach out to one of our pastors. They'll work with you to schedule a time to meet.
In the meantime, we encourage you to check out worship and Bible study. If you're not sure what to expect for worship, why not start by watching online?
