01 About the School
Who can attend Bethlehem Lutheran School?
Any family seeking a Christ-centered education is welcome. You do not need to be a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. We have families from many denominations and backgrounds. We welcome students regardless of their prior school experience, academic level, or family situation.
What grades does Bethlehem serve?
Bethlehem serves students from 3K preschool through 8th grade. We offer half-day and full-day preschool (3K and 4K), traditional K-5 elementary, and 6-8 middle school. Our graduates most often continue on to Fox Valley Lutheran High School for grades 9-12.
How big is the school? What are your class sizes?
Bethlehem enrolls around 105 students
across 3K through 8th grade, with an average class size of 13. Our small size is intentional. It means teachers know every family by name, and no child slips through the cracks.
What makes Bethlehem different from a public school?
Three things parents tell us consistently: daily faith integration (not just a weekly chapel), small class sizes that let teachers really know each child, and a community where parents, teachers, and pastors are all pulling in the same direction. We cover the same academic foundations as any strong school. We just do it inside a Christian worldview, every day.
02 Admissions & Enrollment
How do I apply? What is the process?
Enrollment is a three-step process: (1) schedule a 30-minute tour
so you can see the school and meet the principal, (2) complete the online application, and (3) submit immunization records and any previous school records. We walk every family through it personally.
When can I enroll? Is there an enrollment deadline?
Open enrollment for the following school year runs from January through April, but we accept new students on a rolling basis as long as seats are available. Mid-year enrollment is possible and happens regularly. If your child needs a different school, reach out whenever.
How much does tuition cost? Can we get financial help?
Tuition is more affordable than most families expect. We offer a referral credit for current families, monthly payment plans through Blackbaud, and confidential tuition assistance for families who need it. See the full breakdown on our Tuition page.
03 Daily Life at Bethlehem
What are Bethlehem's school hours?
Doors open to students at 7:30 AM. The school day begins at 7:45 AM
and students are dismissed at 2:45 PM. Half-day preschool families pick up at 11:00 AM. Our After School Care program is available until 5:00 PM
for families who need it.
Is bussing available?
Yes. Bussing is available for students who live within the Hortonville Area School District and within Bethlehem's bussing routes. Check the bussing map
to see if your home is on a route, or call the school office if you are unsure.
Is after school care available?
Yes. After School Care is available for students enrolled at Bethlehem, running from dismissal until 5:00 PM. Parents enroll separately with our Early Learning Center Director. The cost is a flat rate of $2,400 per year. No hourly billing to track or surprise bills to budget around.
Does Bethlehem have a hot lunch program?
Yes. We partner with the Hortonville Area School District Food Service, which caters hot lunches at $4 per meal. Milk is included with each hot lunch, and milk can also be purchased separately for students who bring their own meal from home.
Do students wear uniforms? What is the dress code?
Bethlehem does not require uniforms. Instead, we follow a modest dress-code policy
that keeps the focus on learning and respects our Christian community. See our Parent-Student Handbook for the full specifics.
04 Academics & Faith
What curriculum does Bethlehem use?
Our preschool uses the research-based HighScope
hands-on learning approach. K-8 academics cover reading, writing, math, science, social studies, and daily religion class. Learn more on our Curriculum page.
How much religion is in the day?
Every student has a daily religion class covering Bible history and application. We hold chapel weekly. Beyond the scheduled time, prayer and scripture are woven into every subject. Faith is not an add-on at Bethlehem; it is how we think about everything from science to recess conflicts.
What happens after 8th grade?
Most of our graduates continue to Fox Valley Lutheran High School, our partner K-12 Christian education pathway. Students arrive there well prepared. Many have already completed Algebra 1 and are ready for honors-track coursework. Families who choose other high schools (public or private) report the same: Bethlehem graduates are academically and spiritually ready for whatever comes next.
05 Life & Involvement
What extracurriculars do you offer?
Over the past few years Bethlehem has offered cross country, volleyball, basketball, track and field, chess club, VEX robotics, forensics, piano lessons, junior choir, and hand chimes. Not all activities run every year; offerings depend on student interest and participation. See the full current list on our Extra-Curriculars page.
How do you communicate with parents?
We send a weekly newsletter by email every Friday, covering announcements, upcoming events, and pictures from the week. Our school calendar
is kept current on the website. For day-to-day questions, parents can reach teachers directly by email, and the principal has an open-door policy.
How can parents get involved?
We love parent involvement. It is one of the things that makes our community feel like family. Parents regularly pitch in as classroom helpers, lunchroom helpers, event planners and organizers, coaches, and field-trip chaperones. Whatever your schedule, interests, or skills, there is a way to help, and the office can always match you up with something meaningful.
Still have questions?
The best way to get a real answer to a real question is a 30-minute conversation. Schedule a tour or reach out. We would love to meet your family.
